Our Story

Dr. Lyn Pascoe was a family physician for over 30 years, trained in New Zealand, working in the Cowichan Valley in Canada since the early 1980's. During her time in family practice, she watched as her patients aged and their skin changed. Often, these same people wanted help with their skin.
This was when Dr. Pascoe developed her passion for helping her clients reclaim their confidence by resolving skin conditions and addressing aesthetic concerns with various procedures and products.
Dr. Pascoe delivers natural results that enhance each person’s unique qualities of beauty. She is committed to creating personalized treatment plans and developing long lasting connections with her clients.

Meet the Team

DR. LYN PASCOE

Dr. Pascoe has retired from her work as a family physician and is now devoting her time to Viva Medical Aesthetics. With 18 years of experience in injecting Botox and Fillers and ongoing training with leaders in the profession, Dr. Pascoe is highly trained and skilled at giving you the results you want. Dr. Pascoe received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Auckland and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
Dr. Pascoe completed her post-graduate studies in New Zealand, Toronto, and Vancouver before calling Tofino home for her first two years of family practice. While in Tofino, Dr. Pascoe was instrumental in establishing clinics for the First Nations residents of Hot Springs Cove.

When Dr. Pascoe moved to the Cowichan Valley, she continued full-service family practice which included obstetrics, emergency, and hospital work. During her career, Dr. Pascoe has been a leader in developing new healthcare initiatives and programming in the Cowichan Valley. Most recently, she became a trainer for Nurse Practitioners and established a position in her clinic for an NP who worked with patients dealing with mental health issues, addiction, and homelessness.

Dr. Pascoe developed an interest in cosmetic medicine based on patients’ inquiries about Botox for migraines. She was certified in the use of therapeutic and cosmetic Botox in 2003. Dr. Pascoe regularly attends advanced training sessions including those presented by experienced neurologists. Dr. Pascoe established Viva Medical Aesthetics in 2005. It is a boutique medical spa that offers a full range of services and products including photofacial rejuvenation, medical-grade skin care products, Botox, fillers, and mineral make-up.

Dr. Pascoe is a member of the Doctors of BC, the Canadian Medical Association, and the Family Physicians of BC.

When she is not working, Dr. Pascoe is passionate about outdoor pursuits. She loves kayaking, cross-country skiing, swimming, hiking, and biking.

BARB KAISER

Barb has been with Viva Medical Aesthetics for 10 years and has acquired vast knowledge and expertise in all aspects of skincare and treatment. As one of our highly trained laser and skincare professionals, she can be relied upon to advise you on our many treatment options and to complete procedures that help you achieve healthy, glowing skin. Barb has 3 young grandchildren and a cake decorating business that keep her busy outside of Viva, but she always finds time to keep active and healthy and spend time with her many friends.

CATE KING

Cate was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley and has always had an eye for detail and presentation. She makes excellent use of these skills as one of our highly trained laser and skincare personnel. Cate also has extensive knowledge in skincare products and Jane Iredale mineral make up. Cate loves helping clients find just the right regime to create glowing healthy skin and she can always be relied upon to give you the assistance and treatment you deserve. Raising two young boys with her husband keeps Cate busy and active outdoors on her days off.

MICHELLE HARRINGTON

Thanks to her ready smile, her eagerness to assist in any way, and her specialized talents, Michelle has transformed her career from Medical Office Assistant to Viva Medical Aesthetics’ Clinic Coordinator. Michelle keeps the office running smoothly and also assists Dr. Pascoe with Botox and Filler treatments. Michelle loves being close to the ocean and is often out on her boat with her husband catching crab and prawn. Keeping fit and healthy is also a priority for Michelle.

CANDACE HALLET

Working as a spa aesthetician for the past 10 years, Candace was ready to make some changes and pursue the medical aspect of aesthetics. Her knowledge and background made for an easy transition and she thoroughly loves to help people with their skincare routine. Candace also works as a makeup artist and enjoys using our Jane Iredale makeup line. When Candace isn’t in the treatment room, she’s hanging out with her family, camping and exploring what Vancouver Island has to offer.
